RAS — cultivating hearts and inspiring minds through nature-based learning.

Rooted Adventurers is a weekly outdoor program for homeschool kids to learn together in nature. We focus on hands-on, bioregional learning to cultivate conscientious thinkers, explorers, and participants of the natural world.

We believe the best classroom lies beyond the four walls of home. As we gather together, our adventurers will engage in an immersive, outdoor, literature-enriched learning community. We will be utilizing the natural bioregion of Southwest Missouri, as well as the Stewart Farm CO-OP, as our gathering place. We hope to provide a wonder-filled experience for all.

Our studies are meant to be used alongside your current homeschool curriculum.

Our school is meant to be accessible to the whole family. Paying for two or more kiddos at once is a hefty chunk of change. If you would prefer a payment plan, please email us for details!

  • Our classes have many costs associated with them such as insurance, teachers, facilities, activities, field equipment, website fees, and supplies.

  • Mother Nature is our best teacher.

We will be engaging with the local ecology, literature, nature journaling, allowing time for introspection and plenty of guided free play. We will work with what weather presents.

Curriculum will be a central focus for the week and the specifics will change based on the age group of students.

Learning from our elders is something we hope to model here at RAS, so each semester there will be guest speakers to share their knowledge and wisdom about the specific topics.

  • Yes. We will be hosted by the Stewart Farms CO-OP. Facilities include restrooms, a covered pavilion, tables and chairs, an outdoor forest classroom, and a few climatized spaces for severe weather. Classes will be held rain or shine unless safety is an issue. In that scenario, we will have direct communication with all parents to ensure students are kept safe. Please hold the week following the end of the semester as a “make up week” just in case.

Stewart Farms CO-OP is a working farm. Although we will primarily have our own space, weekly farm walks will be incorporated into our curriculum to be more connected to the environment around us. Proper footwear and rain attire must be provided.

Winter dates will be held off campus. These sessions might include meeting at a park, nature center, or art museum. Locations TBD as weather allows.
